About UVAS Quality
The Uvas Quality grape guard has been on the market since 1968 in the only effectiveness system to control the spread botrytis in the table grape's box.the grape guard consist of a pad with quick and slow sulfur dioxide(SO2) gas release.A quick release of sulfur dioxide(first stage) produce a high concentration for a short time which immediately kills Botrytis spores that are always present on the grape surface.ıt also seals nicks unavoidably occurring during packing, and inhibits teh spread of botrytis if any infected grapes have not been trimmed out. After a few days in cold storage at 0C(32F),the slow release(second stage)starts to produce a low level of SO2 to retard and control the spread of decay.for storage periods over 60 days, inspect represantative boxes of grapes at regular intervals while in storage.ask for specific recommendations. The Uvas Quality grape guard keeps SO2 residue levels under 10ppm tolerance established by the US Health Authorities. It has EPA Registiration NO 37842-1 and others. The adequate control of the cooling chain (0C or 32 F) during post harvest, keeping a contant mositure level inside the box, prevents the bleaching damage and early exhoust of the grape guard.Botrytis decay spreads twice as fast as 2C(35,6 F) as at 0C(32 F). The grape guards effectiveness is not the only key factor in the final condition of the grape. There are several others like quality og grapes, packing method, storage temperatures, transit and destinations condition. Grape guard can be used in the following season if stored in a dry cool area and kept in sealed polyethylene bags.
