Recommended Handling protocol and Packing Instructions
Pomegranate must be handled according to the recommended postharvest handling procedures for Pomegranate such as cooling, grading and sorting per export quality standards.
1. Harvesting time should be morning or late afternoon cool hours.
2. Fruits having growth cracks, cuts, bruises, and decay should be avoided.
3. Collection field crates should be well VENTILATED.
4. Full crates should be placed in shaded area.
5. Full crates should be trucked to the packing house in a shaded trucks well ventilated.
6. Pre-Cool the fruits to the optimum recommended temperature (5C) before packing in the ZOEpac MA bags.
7. Place the ZOEpac MA bag in the export or storage boxes.
8. Place the fruits pods (after pre-cooling) into the ZOEpac MA bags.
9. Expel out as much as possible of the air from the ZOEpac bag before closing the bag.
10.Close the ZOEpac bag with rubber band or closure clip. Make sure that the bag is well closed (twisting then fold over making a U shape then clips or rubber band tight it).
11.Cooling chain MUST be maintained throughout handling and transportation of POMEGRANATE (Shipping temperature set point 5.5C).
12.For long storage of Pomegranates cooling should be set at 5.0C for storage of up to two months and 6.0C for longer storage time.
